Ricardo Angulo’s design work for Minuta artisanal pastas is a classic example of good design. From serif typography that pulls in the classic attitude, to modern line work illustration that adds a modern touch, the brand coalesces into a confident identity suite that’s worth a deeper look.
Extending the brand into packaging, Angulo utilizes a cap sticker that acts as a seal that interrupts the label design nicely. It’s subdued color palette stands strong on the shelf as one part unique and another part happy with its look, not having to try too hard to make a statement.
The hand-turn pasta roller is a fun touch to the identity despite being a bit “on the nose” with the product. And the designer uses a slightly different style illustration for the pasta types/shapes which makes it slightly incongruent with the style established by the logo. Outside of this criticisms, the work stands on its own as a beautiful representation of artisanship.
